The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt Hon (Dr) Simon Bako Lalong KSGG was the Special Guest of Honour at the annual Kwat Pas cultural festival of the Abwor-Dyis Community of Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The Governor was represented at the event by the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS) Prof Danladi Abok Atu who in a remark described how Plateau State is blessed with beautiful cultures which he said must be kept alive otherwise our identity as a people will be lost.

The SGS then commended the NASCO group of companies for carrying out Corporate Social Responsibility Projects by providing a motorized borehole in the community, he then assured them that the Government will continue to provide an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the State.

The SGS then appealed to citizens of the State to practice politics without bitterness as the elections are around the corner reminding them that God is the Giver of Power and he gives power to whom he pleases.

The chairman of the occasion in a speech said though westernization has significantly encroached into our culture, we shouldn’t allow it to erase it. He then commended the Guest speaker at the event Rev Prof Justin LaNibetle Snr Ph.D. who spoke on the topic “Relevance of Digital Technology to Culture”.

In his speech, the National Chairman of Abwor-Dyis Community Development Association, Mr. Alpha John Dakwat said the festival is unique to his people as it helps in the preparation for the farming seasons and also the protection of their crops from wild animals. He further said Abwor-Dyes is blessed, culturally, economically, socially, and politically, saying it’s the gateway of the Mupun Nation.

Present at the event was the Executive Chairman of Pankshin LGA Hon (Dr) Kakmena Audu Gauteng, the Member Representing Pankshin South in the Plateau State House of Assembly, the Mishkom Mupun HRH Da Yusuf Kwangbring among many other dignitaries who graced the colorful cultural event.

The high point of the Event witnessed rich cultural display and also donations for the upgrading of the health centers and reticulation of boreholes in the community.
