Governor Ganduje Vows To Support Kano Line For Maximal Productivity

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has promised to continue supporting the new leadership of the state transport body, Kano Line, attesting that, “The management of the Kano Line is doing very well which brings fruitful development in the state transport system.”

He made this disclosure during the launching of 10 buses purchased by the company, and presented to the governor, within the premises of the Government House, Kano, Wednesday.

“I am happy to see that these vehicles are contributing to the transportation system of the state. That is part of the reasons why we reviewed the master plan of Kano. That is why we are building underpasses, flyovers, and interchanges to improve the transport system of our great state,” he reveals.

He urges Kano people to continue patronizing Kano Line vehicles, adding, “I urge the management of the company to continue being prudent, being accountable. So that more and more vehicles are being purchased.”

Governor Ganduje assured that looking at the way the management of Kano Line operates, “…it is a clear indication that the state is having a big transport outfit that is sustainable at all times,” he said.

While observing that, it is very easy for governments to purchase 100 vehicles and after a year or a few, those vehicles get grounded and auctioned after some time, “…while the government starts purchasing another set of new vehicles. We said No! to this,” he lamented.

He said that the vicious circle must be broken, adding, “When the vicious circle goes like that, it means there’s no element of sustainability. We said NO! again.

We change the system to improve transparency and accountability. All to improve sustainability. That is why we put the company on the right footing. And today we are seeing the fruits of that.”

Earlier the Commissioner for Transport, Mahmud Muhammad Santsi, and the Managing Director of Kano Line, Bashir Nasiru Aliko, assured the governor that the company would continue on a sound footing as the new management started.

They all commended governor Ganduje for his untiring efforts in making sure that Kano Line improves. This ultimately indicates how concerned the state government is in further developing the state transport system.
