On Wednesday, His Excellency Senate President Ahmad Lawan expressed optimism that 2023 will be a year for the APC.
The Senate President made the remarks in Abuja when he received the former Lagos State governor, APC national chairman, and presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and his entourage visiting the APC Senate.
The party’s leader, Tinubu, is in the House of Assembly to meet with APC senators on his bid for a direct party ticket in February 2023.
“In 2023, God willing, the APC in Nigeria will form another government,” Lawan said in response to Asiwaju Tinubu’s announcement of his intention to run for president of the APC.
The President of the Senate said: “Most of the challenges we face in our country today are global challenges.
“We are facing insecurity in some parts of the country. However, we took responsibility for ourselves in 2015 when President Muhammadu Buhari announced that he would tackle terrorism in the North East at the time, and despite the challenges he faced, Buhari tackled some of the challenges. Lawan said
He added, “I hope that given the recent results, before May 29, 2023, the security challenges in this country will be historic.
The Senate President commended APC National Leader Asiwaju Tinubu for his courage and confidence in the APC.
“Tinubu, we have all taken care of you, and we are happy to have you here.
“When you were governor, people were very happy with democracy. However, this visit was made to strengthen our relationship, although we have known each other for a long time, and we enjoyed the visit, we appreciate it, ”he said.
“The APC National Assembly, mainly the APC Senate, is the backbone of our party.
“From 2019, this committee has shown patriotism, commitment, dedication, focus, and good intentions to ensure that the achievements of 2015 and 2019 are used as a political party as a whole in the 2023 general election for the benefit of the Nigerian people”. He said.
“Today the APC government has achieved a lot, although there is still a long way to go. We have achieved a lot from 2019 to date, thanks to the commitment of the All Progressives Change (APC) National Assembly.
“We reaffirm our commitment to serving the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Your Excellency the leader of our APC needs the commitment of the members of parliament.
“You have done a lot of work as a governor, you are a member of the Federal Parliament, and you will continue to be a member of this special assembly.
“We have learned incredible things from you. What we must continue to do today is to ensure that the members of our APC party across the country continue to have faith and determination and wherever we are challenged, we should be visionary decision-makers. This will reverse any negative mood.
“As a government, President Muhammadu Buhari has provided good governance… we have four years between 2015 and 2019.
“In recent years, I mean the APC between 2015 and 2019, as a government, has not failed miserably in its overall performance.
“It should be implemented, and at the moment I want to assure you that the APC members in the Senate and the House of Representatives will continue to work hard until we fulfill our promise in 2023,” he said. said Lawan.
